Sell your damaged Kia
Kia sells into the same value-conscious space as its sister brand, and the Picanto and Rio have spent years near the top of the rental, driving-school and first-car market. Cars that live those lives cover a lot of kilometres in a short space of time and get bumped often, so a large share of the damaged Kias offered to us are three to seven years old with a pre-accident value between R90,000 and R220,000. At those figures an insurer's assessor reaches the write-off threshold on quite ordinary damage, and the owner is left holding a car that still starts and drives.

Damage we see on Kia vehicles
Low-speed urban shunts account for most Picanto and Rio claims — a crumpled bonnet, a broken headlamp and a deployed driver's airbag is enough to end a small Kia's insured life. On the Sonet, Seltos and Sportage we see more parking-bay and side-impact damage, plus a steady flow of Highveld hail cases where the panels are dimpled from bonnet to boot lid but nothing mechanical is touched.
We buy Kia vehicles with accident damage, flood damage, hail damage, mechanical failure and non-runners, as well as insurance write-offs coded Code 2, Code 3 or Code 4.
What your damaged Kia is worth
Because Kia and Hyundai share platforms, engines and a good deal of hardware, a stripped Kia feeds two parts markets at once. Headlamp units, bumper skins, doors and 1.0 to 1.6 petrol engines all sell steadily, and that overlap is a genuine reason we can bid competitively on a damaged Picanto or Rio rather than treating it as scrap metal.
We buy Kia models across every year — older high-mileage vehicles right through to current-shape cars only a year or two old. Age matters far less than what the vehicle is worth intact and how sought-after its parts are, so it is always worth asking.
Before you sell
