Sell your damaged GWM
GWM built its South African base by selling a workhorse bakkie at a price no established brand could match, and the Steed did exactly what buyers asked of it: haul loads cheaply. Those vehicles were bought by small businesses, smallholders and tradesmen, and they were worked without mercy. The newer P-Series moved the brand upmarket, but the salvage pattern still leans commercial — hard use, heavy loads and rural roads. Because the purchase price was low to begin with, the point at which repair stops making financial sense arrives quickly.

Damage we see on GWM vehicles
Steed damage is overwhelmingly load and use related: sagging or broken leaf springs, buckled load bins, rear-end impacts in yards, and front damage from rural road collisions. P-Series files include more highway-speed accidents with airbag deployment and structural front damage, and both models come through with suspension and underbody damage from corrugated gravel that a passenger car would never see.
We buy GWM vehicles with accident damage, flood damage, hail damage, mechanical failure and non-runners, as well as insurance write-offs coded Code 2, Code 3 or Code 4.
What your damaged GWM is worth
Availability was the brand's weak point for years, and that history is why used GWM parts sell so readily today. Owners keeping a Steed working will take a good used load bin, door, bonnet, gearbox or 2.0 and 2.2 engine over waiting on an order, and that willingness is what underpins the offer on a damaged example.
We buy GWM models across every year — older high-mileage vehicles right through to current-shape cars only a year or two old. Age matters far less than what the vehicle is worth intact and how sought-after its parts are, so it is always worth asking.
Before you sell
